Reach for Daddy.....

I feel compelled to share this story with the world because it touched my heart deeply and God immediately gave me a deeper illustration using something simple that happened today.

Today The Fellowship Church ( our church) had its  Easter service at the Duck Park in Sweetwater. If you know much about this park you know that the train tracks run right behind the stage area. Well guess what Of course a train came during our service! When the horn first whistled Connor smiled and said "wooo wooo" like we always do for a train, but when it got in view and began coming closer and closer he tensed up and then when it was right by us and so incredibly loud he panicked. Connor puckered his lip like he was going to cry but what came out was screams. He was in my lap and I wrapped my arms around him and kept telling him it was ok, but nothing soothed him. He then began reaching for Daddy. He was screaming and flailing around and trying his hardest to get to his Daddy ( who was on stage, if you don't know Jeremy is worship leader.)  Honestly in the moment many thoughts went through my mind. First off I thought it was a beautiful reminder that when trouble comes his daddys arms is where he feels safest, because to him daddy is the strongest man he knows and he knows with him he is safe. It makes perfect sense because when trouble comes I too immediately seek out Jeremy in a crowd because he is my safe place as well.  The bible says the man is to be the head of the household and this was a perfect reminder that Daddy is definitely looked at as our leader.

And then God used this experience to give me a important illustration for all of us. When trouble comes all we need to do is seek out and reach for our Daddy (Jesus.) When we feel we are in danger and hope seems lost we should immediately seek him. Because he should be our safe place. Others may try to comfort us, and we should allow them to be there for us, but we should seek him above all else. We should know that no matter how scary our situation may be all we have to do is reach for him. He is our safety, he is our strength, he is our stronghold, and when we reach for him he will always be there with arms stretched our for us in return.

So if your in the mist of a storm, if life seems so scary and you don't know what to do just reach for  Jesus. Cause he can handle the trials, he can handle us at our worst, he will never turn you away and peace and safety can be found immediately with him.

*** I want to point out too that we should not just seek God when trouble comes, We should have a continual ongoing relationship with him.***
